SPEECH LANGUAGE PATHOLOGY SERVICES:

Our speech language pathologists evaluate and treat challenges with:
  • voice (such as vocal nodules, chronic hoarseness)

  • articulation (how speech sounds are made)

  • fluency (stuttering)

  • language (vocabulary, grammar, understanding directions, comprehending stories, expressing oneself, etc)

  • processing (what one is able to do with the information one hears)

  • swallowing (tongue thrust, dysphagia, feeding problems)

We welcome people of all ages.  Our experience includes working with those with autism, neurological conditions (Parkinson’s, MS, CVA/strokes), aphasia, dysarthria, apraxia, phonological disorders, oral motor disorders, dysphagia, stuttering, voice disorders, auditory and language processing disorders.

While our treatment approach is eclectic, we do have specialists who are PROMPT trained, knowledgeable in programs such as  Lidcombe, PECS, …(add more here)

Appointments may be scheduled by calling any of our offices.  If an evaluation has been done recently, we may not need to repeat it.   Following a review of the evaluation, your speech language pathologist will develop a treatment plan specific to the needs of the individual.

We often work in conjunction with other professionals such as physicians and school based therapists.  Our goal is to help you gain effective and functional communication and swallowing skills.

Audiology: Diagnostic and Hearing Aid Services:

Our doctors of audiology provide:

  • Complete audiological evaluations for adults and children

  • Otoacousitc emissions (OAE)

  • Electronystagmography

  • Auditory Brainstem Response Testing

  • Central Auditory Processing Evaluation

  • Tinnitus Evaluation/Hyperacusis Assesment

  • Hearing in Noise Testing for Adults

  • Impedance Testing (Tympanometry, Reflexes)

  • Hearing Aid Evaluations & Dispensing (Digital/Programmables)

Should a person demonstrate a hearing loss, we will discuss various options to improve hearing and/or protect hearing.  These options may or may not include a hearing aid, auditory training, assistive listening and amplification devices.

If a hearing aid is indicated, you will be working with a doctor of audiology, not a hearing aid technician thereby ensuring that you will receive the highest level of expertise and care.

Speech and Hearing Associates’ audiologists hold a reputation as a leader in diagnosing auditory processing disorders and are known for providing comprehensive, individualized reports that include specific recommendations for intervention.
